The Horseman’s Blueprint
The Horseman’s Blueprint is an in-depth online training program designed to provide you with a structured 'blueprint' for developing a strong partnership with your horse.
Through nine comprehensive modules, the program integrates concepts, psychology, theory, and practical tasks in a sequential manner, enabling both you and your horse to build confidence and skill.
By following this program, you'll cultivate a horse that is confident, functional, supple, and strong—prepared to remain calm, relaxed, and responsive in any environment.
This program is suitable for riders of all levels and disciplines, aiming to combine horsemanship and equitation, psychology with function, to build a connected and skilled partnership.
Colt Start & Young Horses
Ever wondered how to start a young horse—or curious about a different approach? In this category, you’ll follow Sam through a 13-session process as he starts a horse under saddle from the ground up.
Even if you don’t plan to start a horse yourself, observing the process will deepen your appreciation for the foundational skills that matter most—such as rope handling, body position, and working angles—alongside the more advanced elements of feel, timing, and balance. These are the ingredients that help a young horse gain confidence during its first ten rides.
You’ll also find a small collection of videos offering guidance and ideas for laying the groundwork with foals and yearlings, helping you build solid basics early on.
We all encounter roadblocks on our horsemanship journey—and often have questions specific to our own horse. While every horse and situation is unique, this category is designed to address a wide range of common challenges and scenarios.
Recognising that training always involves variables, this space is dedicated to real-world problem solving. Content will continue to grow as issues are addressed and filmed in real time.
Topics include (but are not limited to): bridling difficulties, trailer loading, picking up feet, lead changes, lack of connection, and more.
Whether you're facing a specific challenge or simply want to deepen your understanding, this category will support your growth with practical insights and proven strategies.

About Sam
I grew up along the coast in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. Winters were filled with football, while summers were spent swimming and surfing. The idea of teaching horsemanship was far from my mind.
That changed during a family holiday at a farm stay where I encountered horses for the first time. From that moment, I was captivated—drawn to working with, riding, and simply being around horses.
For the past 20 years, I've dedicated myself to training horses and teaching horsemanship. This journey has taken me across four continents and over ten countries, working with riders ranging from recreational enthusiasts to Olympic-level competitors. I've had the privilege of learning from esteemed horsemen and women across various disciplines, each offering unique perspectives that have enriched my approach.
These experiences, combined with years of hands-on practice and experimentation, have culminated in the development of a comprehensive program designed to enhance your connection and success with horses.
Currently, I reside on a picturesque 58-acre property in Yornup, WA, with my wife and two children. Our facility is dedicated to horse training and hosting camps of varying durations. We also engage in small scale cattle breeding and hay production.
In the past four years, I've re-entered the competitive arena to assess the effectiveness of a natural horsemanship foundation. This endeavor has reinforced the significance of understanding horse psychology, biomechanics, and the power of consistent patterns. My passion lies in cattle sports, particularly campdrafting, and I'm actively developing high-quality horses to compete in major events in the coming years.
I look forward to providing you with the essential tools and insights to deepen your horsemanship skills and achieve greater success with your equine partners.
